Erik is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor. He earned an MA in Counseling Psychology from Mars Hill Graduate School (now The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology), and an MA in Transformational Leadership from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul. He has counseling experience in a wide variety of clinical settings, including psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, trauma treatment clinics and private practice.
Erik is passionate about providing care to clients of all ages and backgrounds that is evidence-based, relational, and wise. Erik works with children, adolescents, individuals, and couples, and provides clinical supervision to other mental health counselors pursuing licensure. Erik has been trained in numerous evidenced based practices and specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, working with couples and in parenting.
Erik founded Potter Counseling and Consulting in 2016. He lives in Durham with his wife, Lori, their three children, foster daughter and their dog, Casey. Erik and Lori are also Licensed Foster Care Parents.
