JOSH JACOMET

Josh is pursuing a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University. He completed his BS in Kinesiology from Campbell University in 2010. Before pursuing counseling as a profession, he worked in service, production, logistics, and sales roles. He spent time living in Florida, California, and Oregon before moving home to North Carolina in 2019 to pursue his goal of becoming a licensed counselor.

Josh strives to create a relaxed, comfortable environment where clients can feel free to be their true selves and speak candidly about their lives. He believes that trust is an essential component of the client-counselor relationship, so he consistently operates from a non-judgmental, empathetic mindset to meet his clients where they are. He acknowledges that it takes courage to engage in the counseling process, so your efforts will always be valued and never be taken for granted. To struggle is to be human, but growth is available to us within every conflict.

Josh works with individuals, couples, groups, and families. He utilizes an integrative model of counseling and pulls from a variety of disciplines including person-centered, cognitive behavioral, existential, and acceptance and commitment modalities. Each client is unique, and no situation is the same, so he tailors his treatment approach to best suit his client’s needs. He would be honored to join you on your journey.

Josh joined Potter Counseling as an intern in August of 2024. He lives in Durham, NC with his wife, Chelsea, and their dog Splash. In his free time, Josh enjoys working on house projects, roasting coffee, reading, and fostering dogs with his wife through Hope Animal Rescue.
